Air plasma spraying (APS)
There are several types of plasma spraying. We use the Air Plasma Spraying (APS) technique. The nozzle of the burner consists of a tungsten cathode and copper anode. Gas is ionized in the electric arc that burns between the two. This generates a plasma jet into which the spraying material (powder) is introduced, either radially or axially. The material melts and is propelled towards the surface that requires coating.
Spraying parameters:
- Coating thickness: 0.05 to 0.3 (max. 8.0) mm
- Porosity: 2-8%
- Adhesion: 20-70 Mpa
Spraying materials:
- Metals and metal alloys with low or intermediate melting points
- Ceramics
- Cermets
